Most people cycle to work and errands, and the centre is small enough to cross in 20 minutes. Dinner is early, often around 18:00 to 19:00. Weekends are spent at the Albert Cuyp and Noordermarkt markets, in Vondelpark or Westerpark, or across the IJ at the NDSM wharf in Noord.
